Alcohol consumption is becoming one of the main causes of traffic accidents in Europe and in the United States of America.

In Europe it is estimated that at least 10,000 drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists are killed annually in road traffic accidents where the driver's responsible have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Specialists in the field have reported that alcohol as the main risk factor and causes for traffic accidents.

Even in small doses, alcohol adversely influences driving and judgement when driving, say the experts. Alcohol enters the blood system and spreads throughout the body mainly affecting the brain and eyes. This is probably the most severe risk factor in causing traffic accidents.

The amounts of alcohol does not affect everyone in the same way. Thus, individuals would need to be more tolerant as even trace amount affects them badly. The belief of some individuals that alcohol have no effect on their driving are totally wrong because for every small increase level in the body there is a parallel increase in possibility of an accident.

How does alcohol affect the body

Alcohol affects the body reducing many of the necessary powers for driving:
• Decreases the field of vision.
• Disrupts the sense of balance.
• Movements become less accurate.
• Decreased endurance.
• Increased fatigue.
• Reduce glare.
• Slows down the reaction time.
